Education and experience matter when choosing a Pilates instructor. Pilates is the most amazing form of movement you can experience, and those of us who have a Pilates practice know this is true. It’s intelligent exercise, period. It can also have a heftier price tag compared to other forms of exercise, but there is good reason for this. Your instructor has spent years studying, seeking out knowledge and applying the information they’ve learned. This is a career; a lifelong purpose fulfilled with a passion to be the very best. There has been an investment of countless hours and dollars to hone this craft. The person who has made this investment should be your instructor.

How do you know? Consider asking your potential instructor:
1.  Are you trained through a comprehensive Pilates program certified by the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA)?
2.  Are you a PMA certified instructor?
3.  When was the last time you had any continuing education?

If your instructor answers “yes” to these questions, congrats! You are in the right place. If not, you need to seek out someone who can. It is important for your safety, as well as for the progression of your practice.

As a part of the Pilates Instructor Tribe, I know we all hold each other to high standards, and at the same time, support each other along the way. Our goal is to promote Pilates to everyone, safely and responsibly. We want to inspire people to move pain free, help them feel better in their bodies, and be more flexible in every capacity.

Asking your potential Pilates instructor these questions helps strengthen the Pilates community and creates the best Pilates experience for you.
